Scripture: Luke 2:8–20

Can you imagine some angels showing up at your job, completely terrifying you with their glory, and then giving you wild insight into eternal Good News bursting on the scene?

Imagine for a moment—these men, who might feel more than ordinary and overlooked, tending sheep in the middle of the night, when the heavens burst open with light. The glory of God is not safe, but it is good, and this message comes to them: “I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people” (Luke 2:10).

And their response? They ran to find the baby. They saw Him, worshiped Him, and then shared the news with everyone they met. Joy couldn’t stay quiet—it overflowed.

And what about us? Do we have space for joy to surprise us? Do we have room for it to overflow, to send us sharing about the hope and peace that we’ve found?

Or are the days so busy and loud that we could potentially miss the wonder of what Christmas is really about?

Thankfully joy doesn’t need perfect circumstances; it will find us whether we’re looking or not. But if I have a choice, if I get a say, I want to be ready to see it and to share it.

This week, fully awake women of God, we’re going to pause for joy.

We’re going to look for it, embrace it, and live in awe.

Because we do have a choice, and we already know the good news.

We’re going to worship. We’re going to let our joy get loud—it won’t negate or replace the noise or the pain of our lives, but it will lift our hearts and God’s good (if not safe) glory will shift and change us this season.
