Hey friend,
I’ve heard people say the most important relationship you have is with yourself—and if I’m honest, that always felt a little too woo-woo for me. A little less kingdom-minded. My most important relationship is with God! No question.
But here’s what I’ve learned: it’s not spiritually mature to pretend like you don’t have a relationship with yourself. It’s not holy to act like your thoughts, feelings, and body don’t matter—especially when they matter deeply to God.
I worry that many of us are running ourselves into the ground in the name of selflessness when what we’re actually doing is ignoring our own well-being, emotional health, and mental health. Selflessness isn’t the same thing as pretending like you don’t exist. You can’t pour out endlessly without stewarding your own soul. You can’t be truly generous with your time, money, emotions, or service if you don’t know your own limits.
So here’s the question: How is your relationship with yourself? Are you listening to what your body, heart, and mind are telling you? Are you making space for rest? Are you receiving the grace God so freely gives you?
Let this be a shame-free pause—a check-in with yourself and with God. And if you’re a Fully Awake Women’s Club paid subscriber, don’t forget you have access to the Heart Check Guide to take this reflection even deeper.
You’re worth the care. You’re worth the pause. God showed this to be true when He sent His son to purchase your place in the kingdom. Amen?
With love,
Jess
